Julian Assange Wants to Police the Perpetrators

By TED, 1 August 2010

This is an interesting interview by TED website with Julian Assange in which he explores the methodology of Wikileaks and defends its mission. His response to the remark, imputed to imaginary Mom of US soldiers serving in Iraq or Afghanistan, that leaked footage of sadistic helicopter assassinations of innocent children, journalists and ordinary human beings disparages the whole army, some of whom are courageous and decent etc. is particularly good. He says, well, for people living in war zones these are not revelations, it's just what they see everyday - it's really only 'news' for those who are funding these wars. In that way he deflects accusations of endangering brave young soldiers etc., and defends the greater safety of spreading this kind of information.
